This picture postcard fishing village with a gurgling stream dancing along the main street to the beach, is snuggled in the rolling hills in East Devon’s beautiful coastal scenery and drips nostalgia.
The horseshoe beach is the heart of the village, a natural sun trap surrounded by glistening white cliffs. It has clean waters, rock pools to explore at low tide, beach huts to hire, and beach cafes serving hearty breakfasts and home made treats. The cliffs form part of the South Devon coastal footpath and this area of the coast is a World Heritage Site due to the important fossils found here.
Beer is famous for its lace, stone and smuggling and is an ideal resort for families, couples and friends getting together. Enjoy the beach cafes, a fishing trip, a stroll along the coastal footpath or a Devon cream tea! Visit Pecorama or the Beer Quarry Caves or the regency towns of Lyme Regis or Sidmouth. The City of Exeter just a 40 minute drive.

Beer sits on the SW Coastal footpath within the East Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and is part of The Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site

There is an excellent selection of pretty local shops in Beer where you can purchase all of your daily needs (village store -opens late, Post Office, off-licence, superb bakery, wonderful deli, selection of tearooms, restaurants, pharmacy, art galleries and antique shops. The shops and eateries specialise in fresh local produce – why not shop when you arrive!

Beer is blessed with a grand selection of places to eat to appeal to all tastes and pockets, all within a couple of minute’s stroll of Beachcomber!
Beach Cafés – good local food at reasonable prices. Kennos offers pasta and paninis on the beach, selected evenings in peak season. Take your own wine and plastic glasses.
Beer Fish and Chips – Takeaway and eat in the cottage garden or sit down in the cafe
Woozies Deli – Great pies and pasties for a picnic, and super choice of deli items
The Dolphin –.Good pub food – and do try the breakfasts with newspapers
The Anchor – The beer garden overlooks Beach and has live music and BBQ’s in peak season. Also restaurant and bar meals.
The Smugglers – Restaurant (open late if you arrive late)
Barrel o’ Beer – quality pub food and sports bar
My favourite : Ginas for Italian and Mediterranean food and good wine

Things to do in Beer apart from beach activities
Pecorama Model Railway and Gardens light model railway to ride and gardens to explore, perched on the hillside above Beer and just five mins walk from Beachcomber cottage. PECORAMA has something to offer every member of the family
Beer Quarry Caves Part of England’s only Natural World Heritage Site!
…..and do visit the Jurassic Park Heritage Centre on the Beach and maybe book a rockpool safari.

Public Transport
Jurassic Coast double decker bus (X53) this is an excellent service, and means you can leave the car behind, and enjoy the coastal views The service runs from Exeter to Poole and passes through Beer for either direction. The service currently operates every 2 hrs 7 days a week.
The nearest railway station is Axminster 4 miles away
The nearest Airport is Exeter a 30minute drive.
